Bracknell may not be the first place that springs to mind when you think of mountain cycling, but there's an area about 10KM square near to the A322 that has quite a bit to offer. I go here quite a bit because its easy to get to from Central London. I usually start from a place called "The Look Out" (Point LKOUT in the  GPS file or OS Ref: SU87616613) where there's a reasonably sized car park, cafe, and other facilities.

 From the lookout, you will see signposts guiding you to the mountain cycling area, where you'll see no shortage of down-hillers and XC riders. I've included some pictures I took during my last journey there.

For people with GPS receivers there's a file that can be uploaded onto your GPS receiver if its compatible with the G7toWin upload program. Ordinance Survey  provide mapping of the area, one map I use is the Explorer map (1:25000) ISBN code 0319 21785X.

	Just starting out on the ride, looking back into the track GPS point: P1 OS Ref: SU88176531		First down hill of the day, there's actually two or three choices near here. Its steeper than it looks. GPS point: DH1 OS Ref: SU88456511
	Here's another drop just near DH1 (right branch). The ramp at the end is cool. GPS point: DH1 OS Ref: SU 88456511		This is a good fast downhill, quite stoney, nearly lost it!! Again near point DH3 there's many choices. GPS point: DH3 OS Ref: SU88536416
	The above hill (DH3) has a long run off thankfully. Watch the loose stones near the top. I almost lost it there		There's a couple of area's where courses have been dug out.  GPS point: COURSE OS Ref: SU88466420
	The area surrounding the lookout is a Crown Estate, and is very well sign posted.		Short, but certainly not sweet. 200 meters from VERT 9 (which is point 9) also has some almost vertical drops nearby. GPS point: VERT9 OS Ref: SU87546507

This file contains several several of the main waypoints for this area, including the Lookout, Lower Star Point and Upper Star Point to name a few. Also this has the track data of the route I did last time I was there. Its worth noting that the track data is exactly as it came from the receiver, and has not been rationalised. Ive also marked a couple of areas where there were significant downhills
